IOSP Summer Intensives for young string players offer focused and fun sessions on strings technique, music theory, sight-reading, ensemble playing and more!

Activities differ within sessions and are adapted to participants’ skill levels. Check back soon for details on activities provided during our two upcoming Summer sessions!

STRINGS INTENSIVE BASICS

SESSION for BEGINNERS is open to all students ages 7-12 who have no prior experience playing a string instruments OR who have been playing for 1 or 2 years.

SESSION for INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED players is open to students ages 11-17 who have been playing a string instrument for at least 3 years (min.level: SUZUKI book2).

Sessions are 3 days long with the 4th day devoted to performances in group settings. Activities are scheduled between 9-12pm for Beginners and 9-1 pm for Intermediate/Advanced students.

Sessions are led by the IOSP Artist Faculty and experienced guest Teaching Artists affiliated with various music institutions in the country.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you are a complete beginner and you don’t have your own instrument, IOSP is happy to provide you with an instrument for the duration of the Intensive. Intermediate and Advanced students are required to have their own or rented instrument and bow with them for the entire session.

  • Yes, it is possible - contact us directly to check the eligibility if you would like to join the beginners session and your child is below or above the required age.

  • Parents might be asked to participate in the sessions for BEGINNERS if your child is below 7 or 8 years old. This is to facilitate the understanding of acquiring the proper posture and technique basics and ensure the good habits will be reinforced during home practice sessions. Faculty will inform parents in advance if their presence will be needed at any of the classes.
