Youth Programs

    The Strings Program provides lessons for youth in violin, viola, cello, and bass with instruction from local and internationally renowned Artist Instructors. Participating in these lessons develops foundational musical skills, while honing teamwork and leadership qualities that last a lifetime. Our Youth Orchestra program includes individual lessons in addition to group lessons, orchestra rehearsals, performance opportunities, special events and workshops.

    TUITION
    Includes 27 lessons, group lessons* and orchestra rehearsals* plus performances. Financial Aid is available! Scroll down to learn more.

    Elementary School Students
    2nd – 5th grade: 30-minute lessons $810.

    Middle School Students
    6th – 8th grade: 45-minute lessons $1,215.

    High School Students
    9th – 12th grade: 60-minute lessons $1,620.

    6th – 8th grade: 45-minute lessons $1,215.

    *10% discount per person (up to 4 people) when registering siblings at the same time.

    Monthly instrument rental available:

    $15 – Violin and Viola
    $25 – Cello
    $30 – Bass

    *group lessons and orchestra are currently only available in Grand Rapids, however everyone taking lessons outside of Grand Rapids is welcome to be a part of our our orchestras. Additional fee for the group lessons is $175.

    CAMP 2024 DETAILS:

    Ages 8-17

    All levels of experience are welcome to join this integrative music camp which focuses on nurturing the individual potential of participants and providing a safe and supportive environment for creativity and expression. All students will participate in a final performance at the Reif Performing Arts Center. Artist instructors from the Third Coast Chamber Collective will lead the camp with the assistance of guest musicians. Scholarships are available.

    Early Music Education- Musik Garten Bootcamp

    Monday - Saturday: 10:00am-12:00pm

    Ages 4-7

    Led by our licensed K-12 Instrumental and Vocal music instructor, Lynnea Iverson, this camp spotlights the celebrated “MUSIK GARTEN Immersion Program”

    where children and parents bond, interact, and learn together through music. Delve into an unforgettable journey of rhythm, sound, and movement, designed to strengthen the connection between you and your child while igniting a shared love for music.

    Learning through music in early childhood is an incredibly effective way for kids to develop necessary social and cognitive skills! The Musikgarten curriculum is the leader in early childhood music education. Led by a music professional and licensed Musikgarten teacher, this class promises to be an incredible & enjoyable opportunity!

    • Family Music for Babies (Newborn-18months)

      TUESDAYS 12:30 - 1:15pm

    • Music Makers At Home (ages 4-7)

      TUESDAYS 4:00-5:00pm

    • Music Makers Around The World (ages 5-7)

      TUESDAYS 5:00- 6:00pm

    TUITION: $300 per child (15 classes)

Adult Programs

    Local musicians are welcome and encouraged to join the Itasca Symphony Orchestra! Our musicians come from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels: many of our symphony members played in college, several have degrees in music, while some began learning as adults. ISO collaborates with surrounding northern Minnesota symphonies and top tier soloists from across the United States. Weekly rehearsals are held October through May, with performances three times a year in December, February, and May at the Reif Performing Arts Center.

Participating in these lessons develops foundational musical skills, while honing teamwork and leadership qualities that last a lifetime. In addition, we offer summer lessons for youth and adults during July.

    TUITION

    Fall and Spring 2024

    • 45-minute lessons $1,215 (includes 27 lessons)

  • in partnership with Third Coast Chamber Collective

    Music Educators, Community Orchestra Members, College Students, Adult Musicians (18+) with 3+ years of experience are invited to register for a week of summertime music immersion. We welcome applications from strings, piano and woodwind players who would like to perform chamber music works with fellow participants and camp faculty members!

    Tuition fee: $450

    IOSP members tuition fee: $350

Financial Aid & Scholarships

  • We are committed to offer access to music education through financial aid to elegible families.

    Although we aim to provide as much aid as possible, funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Note: To receive financial aid, you must submit a financial aid form, and pre-register using the amilia platform. Once the application is processed, the financial aid will be applied to your account. You will then be able to complete your registration and know how much balance is left.

    Please know that financial aid cannot be applied retroactively.
