Irina Mueller, violin

Violinist Dr. Irina Mueller regularly performs with her fiancé, Dr. Nick Murdick (horn and alphorn) in duo and chamber music collaborations. Together, they have performed recitals in Montana, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Indiana, Michigan, Germany and Switzerland. Solo recitals have taken Irina throughout the United States and Germany. Irina has toured Europe and Japan as an orchestral musician, has appeared as soloist with several orchestras, and performed the Brahms Violin Concerto in Germany and Romania.

Irina was a member of the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra for ten years, where she served as acting assistant concertmaster for several seasons. She has served as co-concertmaster of the Great Falls Symphony Orchestra (Montana), interim concertmaster of the Muncie Symphony Orchestra (Indiana), and as a guest concertmaster with several regional orchestras. Irina has performed with many orchestras including the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (Ohio), Flint Symphony Orchestra (Michigan), String Orchestra of the Rockies (Montana), and the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen (Germany).

Irina enjoys sharing her love of music with students of all ages and in a variety of settings. She was an artist in residence at the Northern Showcase Concert Association in Havre, Montana with a grant from the Montana Arts Council. Irina served as conductor of the Prelude Orchestra of the Youth Symphony Orchestras of East Central Indiana. She has adjudicated scholarship and concerto competitions and is frequently sought out as a chamber music and orchestral string sectional coach. Irina has served as an adjunct faculty member at Ball State University, Taylor University and the University of Great Falls. Irina was honored to teach and perform for three years at the Goppisberg International Music Festival and Academy, in Grächen, Switzerland.

Irina received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees with an Arts Leadership Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. She was awarded a Soloist’s Diploma by the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen, Germany and holds a Doctor of Arts degree from Ball State University. Principal teachers have included David Russell, Lynn Blakeslee, and Winfried Rademacher.
