Program Notes for our April 30, 2016 Concert at the Reif!

*As long as the Reif Construction stays on track, this will be the first performance in the newly renovated space. If there is an additional construction delay, our website and phone number will state the change. Our alternate location is St. Joe's church in Grand Rapids.

On Saturday, April 30, 2016, the Itasca Symphony Orchestra (ISO) will feature internationally renowned gypsy jazz violinist Tim Kliphuis, along with Grand Rapids nationally recognized jazz guitarist, Sam Miltich. They will play Antonio Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” in a re-working by Tim Kliphuis to feature improvisation, Russian folk, American grooves and minimal music elements. Each Season reflects on Vivaldi's original, but brings a flavor of the 21st Century. This piece was first premiered in May 2015 with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and will be recorded for Sony in Cape Town next June. The performance with the Itasca Symphony Orchestra will be the first time it is played in North America.
